Legendary TP Mazembe and DR Congo goalkeeper, Robert Kidiaba, has been announced the winner of the Lubumbashi parliamentary seat.
The whole of DR Congo was in tautness over the delay of the announcement of results of the hotly contested elections held in December.
Kidiaba, who is well-known for his unique beggar goal celebration which involves bouncing around his penalty area on his buttocks entered into serious politics in 2015.
The legendary goalkeeper made his debut for the national team in 2002 and has since featured in 11 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches for the central African nation.
Apart from his celebrated football career, the goalkeeper also worked as an ambassador for the Peace One Day charity.
The election which was supposed to have taken place two years ago will see President Joseph Kabila end his 18-year reign as head of state of the oil-rich country.
Well, since the declaration of Kidiba’s victory, football fans have taken to social media to send messages of ovation to the goalkeeper.
