Lessen Negative Criticisms Towards Artistes – Stephanie Benson

Ghanaian Pop and Jazz artiste, Stephanie Benson, has pleaded with Ghanaians to reduce the negative comments and insults they direct at musicians.

According to her, the ‘disrespectful’ opinions people express towards artistes limits the morale of some talented underground musicians who want to embrace the limelight.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Friday, Stephanie advocated for the need “to allow artistes be themselves”.

Asked if she faces similar criticisms abroad, the ‘One More’ singer answered in the affirmative but indicated the level of respect artistes attain abroad were higher.

“Obviously yes we are sometimes hypocrites. I think we hide some amazing artiste out there. I think they are afraid to be themselves because people are so judgmental. We have opinions but I think it’s important we allow our artistes to be themselves. Some [the artiste] are very amazing…” she said.

“It’s everywhere but they have respect for artistes than they do here. Here they don’t embrace freedom of artistry. Not everyone but some of them. I think we do need our artiste to be free. Not in the borders of being so crude. I think we need to allow our artistes to be free…” Stephanie maintained.
